the tip sure looks like a flaring tool tip, I don't know if hammering a flare can be done like you do a swage?

I think plumbers use hammer style flaring tools on soft copper.

this tool has wear marks close to the flare,looked @ flare tools,,,didnt seem to match??

I don't think there would be much in the way of wear, copper is soft. None on my flaring tools. A few hammer marks on the hitting end of the swages.

thanks,might never really know,,,i was thinking machinist tool?,,,noticed a lot of wear on shank,between knurling and cone
