Hirsh drill powered wood lathe
« on: August 16, 2020, 07:00:26 PM »
Not only is it a drill powered wood lathe, it's a counter top advertising model! The only info I could find for these is you could order them out of the back of magazines, no info about an actual retail location. Maybe trade show demo? Maybe a guy dragged this thing to mom & pop hardware stores trying to set up franchise locations?

I can see it now, a root beer brown 1974 Ford Maverick 4 door (6cyl of course) pulls up to Bubba Joe's Hardware and Bait Shop in rural Merlin, Oregon. Guy gets out in a cheap (but clean) suit, slicks back his hair, adjusts his glasses, pulls this thing out of the trunk, and tries his best sales pitch of the new and fabulous Hirsh drill powered wood lathe! Everyone will want one! You would be a fool to turn down this once in a lifetime chance to get in on the ground floor of this soon to be million dollar business!

Goes great with the drill powered wood saw I picked up... 2 weeks ago?

Kind of reminds me of the stationary disc sander I cobbled together out of 2 X 4's, plywood, and plumbers tape 30 years ago.
