Need some help with the Williams adjustable - I picked it up and it spun so smoothly I put it in my box without looking at the pin.  How can I fix this?  The pin moves back and forth but won't come out.


Got a Huot drill index "new", another small index with "window" (need a piece of plastic).  Williams Superjustable, Snap-On AW5K hex keys, Osborn file card, thin Bonney 11/16, thin Williams, Gedney clamp apparently a special purpose? The little file far left is a Nicholson.  A set of badly needed Craftsman metric deep sockets - only missing the 5mm.  And the best for last - a nearly complete Craftsman =V= 1/4 drive set.  This whole lot was not an expensive purchase.

I don't know what came in this set but there are two 8 points and the 3/8 is a newer socket. 

I've started keeping an eye out for thin wrenches after rebuilding a half dozen or more bicycles.  The Williams thin wrench #637 is a combination of 1-1/16, 1-1/4 and a hammer.....

Showing your youth...the "little file far left" is a point file, used to clean up the ignition points in traditional points-and-condenser ignition systems (cars, motorcycles, etc.).  Useful for other stuff where you need a thin file, too, and notable for being somewhat flexible, helpful when you're trying to fit it into a distributor, so you can match-file the two points (easier when your car/motorcycle/airplane/boat has points that are all one assembly and can be quickly removed from the distributor).

First "see through" Huot index I've seen.

Hello, Al. Nice score on the tools! I'm pretty sure that is a Beam Clamp, for attaching conduit to a beam flange. Regards, Lou

Al, the pin locks the knurl so it cant turn once you set it. At least it’s supposed to work that way. I had one in a Craftsman, never knew who made it.

Hi Bill,  I knew it was a points file, just surprised it was Nicholson.  I may not be as young as you think!  The "window" index is a no name product.  The Huot is the newish one with red plastic index.

These were not the only good things at this sale.  Cabinets filled with tools and gizmos, nuts and bolts.  Several tool  boxes, one of which held a Diamalloy chain wrench and an adjustable.  Bins full of asian gadget tools - anyone want a 10" adjustable with a built in 1/2 drive ratchet on the other end?

I'm not sure if this will answer your question, I have some Williams adjustable wrenches with the sliding lock pin. The pin is held in place with an E-clip. Once the clip is removed the pin will come out.

I have one of those.  I couldn't resist the gizmotic factor. Also reminds me of some scaffolding wrenches.

Mike, Analog,  Got the pin and knurl out and cleaned up.  Works fine.  I thought it was broken so glad it is correct and works properly.  Wrench cleaned up well.
