Tools yard sale in Waterloo NY
« on: July 13, 2020, 10:56:28 AM »
Just picked up a few things -  K-D 2517 tubing bender and an Oxwall wire former - these were just discussed on another thread - mine was missing some pins so for 1 dollar I now have enough pins and don't have to make them.

Sorry - this photo is upside down - Lubroclamp - apparently for greasing leaf springs.  But it looks like it might be adaptable to use on tough grease fittings.  Reverse side says "PAT PEND".  An example on ebay is marked with Pat # 2,003,708-9

The pin with the small screw threads is spring loaded.  Second photo shows it pulled back.

Hello, international3414. You have to read the Patent claims, difficult as they are to understand. It has something to do with "covered" leaf springs. I believe, if I read it correctly ,(what are the chances of that?) , the corkscrew looking end would work its way into the "covering" to allow a graphite type lube/grease to get between the leaves. Again, this is my interpretation of Patent Lawyerspeak , (not sure if that is really a word, where is Bill H.?) Regards, Lou

You know, it's interesting - I've seen various tools for lubricating leaf springs, and shop tips articles on techniques, but during the years of my youth that I worked in gas stations, I don't remember anyone ever doing that.  Maybe it's because I grew up/worked in a city, with the cars going over paved roads.

...Lawyerspeak , (not sure if that is really a word, where is Bill H.?)...
Well, based on my years of experience working with lawyers, I'd say that it sure as heck should be a word and therefore is.
