Palmeter Quick Adjust

John R. Palmeter Jamestown NY was issued patent 1,471,413 on October 23, 1923 for a quick adjust wrench that resembles a crescent style wrench at first look. It has a small lever that releases the dynamic jaw

The patent drawing seems to show screws, not rivets.

I only ever had one quick adjust wrench.  It was hopelessly--and I do mean hopelessly--rusted tight
About drove me crazy.  Or, maybe it DID drive me crazy....

My guess is that it was much cheaper to manufacture using the rivets. However, judging by the amount of parts inside, it should have been made with screws, at least you could have taken it apart to clean and lube it.

Of course that assumes the screws weren’t rusted in place.

Riveted together, the wrench is split all the way down through the handle.

Wow, that's a nice one Les. I love the gadget factor. And yet another tool from Jamestown. That sure must have been a wrench & plier manufacturing hotspot back in the day.
