Hello, This was headed for the scrapper at work, but I was able to rescue it. 4 deep 3 bay drawers on top, and 2 spacious bottom drawers. I'm guessing this held index cards, or microfiche at one time. I added a custom 4 wheel base, and a plywood top, so that I can put some of the smaller bins on top!! Now to find a parking spot.    Regards, Lou

I found two of those at an estate sale last summer with all smaller drawers.  I paid 40.00 each and thought I got a great deal.  I about killed myself loading and unloading them.  They are really heavy.  Mine are stored in one of my smaller barns until I fix up my larger barn, which I have started working on in earnest this year.

Steelcase is the Cadillac of file cabnets. I got 2 of the 2-drawer legal size file cabinets at an auction in NY for $5 with no keys. Cost me $10 for the keys from Steelcase.
Also got a 5 drawer file cabnet in Fla. some years back and it was $5. I didn’t even know they made a 5 drawer file cabnet until I got that one. They hold a lot of weight and still work smoothly.

Lou, if you can’t find a place up there to park it you’re always welcome to park it in my garage.

Hello, Mike. Thanks for the offer, but I'm thinking if I parallel park it I may be able to get it in there! Sounds like you found some great deals, I have never seen a 5 drawer file!!!

It was made to hold lots of paper and that paper gets heavy and gets lots of use.

I have 3 Stanley Vidmar cabinets that I have acquired from work as well as 5 of the 36" - 48" wide horizontal file cabinets for storage in my basement. I moved all of them into the walk in basement by myself. The trick for me is to remove all of the drawers, move the empty cabinet frame into position and replace all of the drawers.

I also have used PVC pipe sections as rollers if required to move into place.

Vidmar? Those are the Holy Grail of storage cabinets!!! I agree, it is always easier to take the drawers out and move the cases separately!! I remove the dividers and any sliding hardware, and then put those in a labeled box in case I ever empty one of the cabinets, and decide to sell!! I also line the bottoms of all the drawers with scrap laminate.. Still trying to workout a retirement package where I get a phone call when one of these cabinets pop up!!!

Looks like a good find.   My one neighbor has a few computer card cabinets and he uses them for hardware (nuts & bolts, & etc.).   I used to use that same type of cabinet (wayyyyyy back when),
and they weighed a gruntload even when empty.
