Bought a tote of junk today
« on: August 02, 2019, 03:36:22 PM »
Went to a moving sale, looked in a tote, rust, spider webs etc.  However there were two draw knives and five planes plus a Craftsman pipe vise.  How much for the whole thing, $5.00 and you can have the tote.  I'm showing the draw knives as I have questions.  The bottom one looks to be made by someone but is in good condition.  The top one has severe pitting, but the handles are solid and it will take a good edge so will make a user.  On the top one it says_____ edge tool works in one place, cannot figure out the first word and in the center is the word "carpenter".  Anyone know the maker?

As to the planes only a Stanley Handyman and a Craftsman block plane can be restored, the Stanley No. 22 had termites, the Craftsman No.4 had a broken side and the no name block plane was all rust.  On the other hand, the Craftsman No. 222 pipe vise is in fine condition.

Hello, Coolford. Sounds like Winsted Edge Tool. Could it be Karpenter? , that was one of their logos. Regards, Lou
