Champion De Arment Tool Co. Channellock plier

I'm sure Plyerman can supply more information, but I picked up this plier in a box lot yesterday.  The patent No. is 1950362 and was applied for by Howard Manning of Meadville, Pa.  Applied Feb 8 1932 and granted Mar 6 1934 and there was also a 1933 Canada patent.  The assignee was Champion De Arment Tool Co. of Meadville Pa.  On the plier shown it lists Champion De Arment Tool Co on one handle and Channellock No. 420 USA on the other.  On the other side it lists the patent number.  Obviously this is an early example of the Channellock line, does anyone know the relationship between the two companies.

They are one and the same.  They changed their name to Channellock in 1963 because of the popularity of the product.

The #420 pliers with the 1933 date are hard to find. My very earliest pair of #420 has handle patterns and a 1932 date. All of the rest of my early dated pairs have smooth handles.
