Fluted Handle Crescent Chisel
« on: November 16, 2011, 10:55:20 AM »
Never seen one before and was wondering as to its age maybe?  Model number as best I can see is  #175 and then a 1 and then another character that might be an O or a U.  Came from aon old farm auction, but it sure looks cool.  tip needs some dressing, but the body survived pretty well.

TIA

A couple of companies used that handle design, Buffum, Billings...I have never ever seen a crescent one before tho, and it's unusual on a chisel, usually used for screwdrivers...

 very Nice : )
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I posted one on here a few months ago. There have been several on eBay since then.

Plumber's chisel.
They knew they were gonna hit them with hammers anyway, no matter what anyone said.
So they made them with a steel handle.
I think Stanley, among others, still makes a steel handle chisel line.
