Very, very old wagon jack. Anybody know about these?

     This is what I believe is what's left of a very old wagon jack with it's crank & ratchet missing.

     I've been sent these images by my friend who acquired it, I'll get a closer look at it at Christmas.

     I can't find any info online about this make, in fact I'm struggling to find much at all about this type of jack so any information would be gratefully received.

Interesting.  Wagon jacks for those with steel or wood wheels usually  only had to lift one or two clicks for the wheel to clear the ground.  The ones I have seen had 2x6s or a 4x4 for a base.  This looks like it may have had a crank to lock onto that exposed square drive.

  Would you care to elaborate?   I understood it was a wagon jack.

  I guess "wagon" means railway wagon, I've seen others dated around 1850.
