Finally found a good ball peen
« on: September 01, 2018, 05:09:43 PM »
Went to the "clean out boys" sale again.  They moved to a different barn, in Memphis (NY), but still another old Plainville Turkey Farm barn.  I've been watching for a few good ball peen hammers and finally came up with this Ridgid No.016.  It has a well used but undamaged face and the handle is 13" long below the head.   I am assuming 016 means 16 ounces?  It weighs 1lb 6oz.
Does anyone recognize the socket set box?  It's rusty but the box is in great shape.  Only the tray is a little distorted.  No markings.  Who made this and how old is it?
The socket tray is a Snap On KTA-232B in need of TLC, but savable.

Probably.  The rated weight will be the weight of the head; the handle's got some weight of its own.

Al:

that style box was popular with a lot of brands.

the maker of the tools was prolly on a decal under the lid.

Nice period box for the right sized set
