Buffum Scrapers & 2 Others
« on: August 30, 2018, 06:22:28 AM »
Hello, The 2 at top are stamped Buffum Tool Co. These are scrapers listed in their catalog. The other 2 are unmarked, would these also be scrapers? At fist I thought these were founders tools, but the Buffum tools have been verified. Also, the Buffum tools are stamped ORD. DEPT. , and there are over-stamps on the Buffum mark. Could these have a military connection? Thanks, Lou

Hey lp nice set of scrapers you picked up including the 2 unmarked.
I don't know for positive but I would not be surprised if they were military with those marks as they needed to scrape bearings when necessary too.

Hello, Bill. Thanks for the info. They may not all have the same label, but now I have 4 different configurations of the ends. Regards, Lou

I would think the military had ordinance departments.
       Motor pool tool kit item?
The only bad tool is the one that couldn't finish the job.  Ironicly it may be the best tool for the next job.

Hello, Bill. They are carbon scrapers. This is from a page of a Buffum Catalog. To scrape carbon from the top of cylinders and tops of pistons and the exhaust ports of gasoline engines.Regards, Lou
