LITTLESTOWN No 2 CLAMP ON VISE
« on: August 05, 2018, 06:32:12 PM »
I picked up this vise over the weekend. It's marked Littlestown HDW & FDY CO . NEW YORK  No. 2.  I 've had many Littlestown vises and this is the first one marked  New York. The ones that's I have all had Littlestown , Pa on them. I also haven't seen this one online yet. Any thoughts on this one ?

Hello, Ken. Maybe the foundry was located in New York, making the castings for Littlestown? Just a guess. Regards, Lou

There is a Littlestown No. 25 listed in the classifieds in Houston.  It has New York, NY on it.

That's interesting.  I live close to Littlestown PA, its just over the line and it certainly looks the same as the PA vises.  Have not seen a New York either but will certainly keep an eye out.

Note, the Littletown vises are just OK quality.  I have broken a few over the years but keep using the same model because I have it bolted through a 3/8's plate and don't want to redrill the holes.

If you take a look at the Littlestown catalog at the below link, you will see that the cover shows the company address to be Newark, NJ, and the foundry location as Littlestown, PA.  However, if you look on the next page at the listing for the No. 400 vise, it clearly shows New York on the vise, much like your No. 2.
No idea why.
