Ohio tool co. drawknife

Auction yesterday picked up this nice Ohio Tool Co. Drawknife in a box lot that also included a Stanley No. 25 bevel.  The drawknife is a 9 inch which is a less common size.  Picture is as found.

Looks nice and clean.  A lot of drawknives found in the wild give the impression that they were used to smooth concrete, and then left out in the woods for ten years.

You'll like that No. 25, particularly if you do much carpentry/remodeling.  Once you get comfortable with it, you can set the bevel with one hand, helpful if you're balancing on a ladder, trying to take off an angle to cut some trim to fit.

You are correct on the quality of drawknives found in the wild.  I have found them with only the backbone left, no blade and then they sharpened the backbone.  So many of them have handles missing or so rotted that they are worthless.  Then some have handles that are made of tree limbs etc.  As I'm not in the handle making business I let others have them.  As lastly, I have found them welded back together and or heated to form shapes.
