Box and tools buy
« on: July 08, 2018, 05:58:47 PM »
The wife was looking on the Let It Go site and she found a local box and tools for sale. The guy wanted $180 and said no lowball offers so I wanted to see if I could lowball him. I went and looked at the box and tools and lowballed the heck out of him and he took the offer.
I picked it up Friday and it is an MBC roller 7 drawers with a 3 shelf cabinet in the end and a long 2 shelf door in the back and a power box on the end. It is 45" long, 24" deep and 37" tall. It is missing the handle on the end so I will have to fab one and fix the plug on the power box. It rolls very easy and has brakes on the swivel casters.

It has quite a few tools in it with about half imports. Here is a pic of the USA tools and they are mostly Craftsman, SnapOn, MAC, SK, BluePoint and a few other good brands. I have never found a Plomb broken like this. I have never seen P&C ratchet wrenches either. I don't see a COO on the Craftsman rotohead 3/8" dr Yankee ratchet so is it an import?

I still have to look over the box for a date. Anybody know where it could be found?

Nice grab! Should refinish nicely.

The ratcheting roto ratchet is a fairly new tool. I remember seeing them advertised not too long ago. And the broken combo wrench is a new one to me, too. I've seen wrenches broken like that - but not a Plomb.

Nice haul. That's a box you don't see very often. Seems like all the av guys bought taco wagons rather than the mac variant back in the day.

Very nice box! and tools!  Use a flashlight to search for the MBC numbers - they may be anywhere but most likely near a corner, but there are numbers and very likely a date.

Thank you. Is a MBC a common toolbox ? Who all did they make tool boxes for ? Are then still in business ? Thank's in advance.

I do believe they are no longer around. They made boxes for many companies including Snap On and MAC. They were made very well for the day and this box and a MAC stack I have from the mid 70's are heavier gauge steel than is used by some manufacturers today.
