Luckily I have a few estate sale reps that give me a call when they see a garage full of tools. Usually I only get just a couple of pictures but after a quick study I throw out an offer and probably 1 out 5 times they sell. I go and load everything up and it's only after I bring it all home do I open each drawer or box lid with the same excitement of a kid opening a birthday gift. I just never know what I am going to find. Once I found in an electricians box with an odd looking fuse puller. After seeing Phila on the side of the pliers I did a little research and found out what it was. Civil war tooth puller., another box I found something I probably will never sell a 5 inch round 1919 porcelain Santa Barbara Telephone Co sign. They were only made for 2 years. Why was it in the tool box? I don't know. My last surprise find was from a box I just picked up, it had a blue book that is titled Wiring Devices Bryant Perkins 1920. Opening the 215 page book I see tons of light bulb holders and other wiring apparatus plus at the end a price list. Curious I looked it up and found out it is worth about $40 to $50. Not bad considering I only paid $200 for the tool lot which included a couple of nice vises.
