Herbrand special tool and another what's it
« on: June 28, 2018, 09:26:15 PM »
This is a Herbrand 260 tool with pointed end and a round notched end for turning? what?

This looks familiar but I just can't figure out what or why...the bands are apparently a spring steel.  The very end (left) is a hex shape. No markings.

Thanks for looking

The second one could be a reamer.

Or smoothing out the valve guides after knurling.  Dad had one similar but with round stiff wires in a helix.

The top pic looks kind of brake toolish.

Chrysler brake spring tool in 1960 catalog.
and the other is a valve guide reamer.

I should have been more specific I have used valve guide reamers in the past.

Thanks guys!  The reamer looks like something I might be able to use, the brake tool not so much.

I say the second one is to remove carbon from valve guides.

I'm not seeing the valve guide ream/hone thing... way too big for a valve guide hole.

BUT I cant tell what it actually is either.

I looked it up and the Plomb version is called a valve guide cleaner. I'm sure that other Co's have other names for them but EVILDR is correct in calling it a carbon remover.

Yep.  Checked it last night and it adjusts!  The 1/4" hex on the tip expands the blades.  Thanks all!
