My totally unsubstantiated theory is that it is part of a farm implement made by the Janesville Machine company of Janesville Wisconsin. It appears that Janesville marked some of their implement wenches "J.M. CO.".  I did not find a good wrench marking image  searching online. Maybe a member has one and could snap a picture of the marking to compare.

would a cutter bar fit  in the pointed end ???

looks somewhat  like a bar guide, although I have not seen one like that.
