Sunday finds
« on: February 09, 2018, 06:12:02 PM »
Hello, I went to a house last Sunday to buy a few tools, here are some of the items found there. The former owner had a good eye, and I believe he liked the patented items. At top is what I believe to be a Wm. Marples Archimedean Centrifiugal Style Drill. Next is a Reliance  2" Square Edge Socket Firmer? Framing? Chisel. Next is a Bridgeport Hardware Triangular Scraper, with a Perfect Style? Handle. Next, (within the calipers) is a GM Co. Mfg.Inc. Jewelers Cross Peen Hammer, a Handy (finger ring) Twine Cutter, and a U-Dial-It 5 in 1 Blade Holder ( for double edge razor blades). At the bottom is a wooden caliper stamped NARRAGANSETT MACHINE CO. PROVIDENCE R.I. I am guessing the wood is boxwood, much like the wood used in a zig-zag rule??? The company made wood & metal lathes in the late 1800's, and then started making gym equipment. Not sure if this was a tool that they sold, or if it came from the factory. Spoiler alert, this is not a gloat!!!!!!!! I paid dearly for these items, and quite a few more:-) All of the above I have never seen before, and I had some time, and wanted to share. Questions, corrections, suggestions always welcomed!!!! Regards, Lou

Lou, nice group there.

'COULD NOT LEAVE BEHIND"   I know that feeling, and also the feeling when I walked away and when I get home and dwell
on it, then call back and it is sold, that feeling does not balance out the good ones.  Frank

Some very nice seldom seen items there Lou. I think I would have grabbed them too.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.
