Oil Change Reminder
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:11:00 PM »
Hello, I found this a couple weeks ago, haven't had a chance to post it. Seems to be a vinyl/plastic material, with a 2 digit phone number. Stick pins for mounting to what I am guessing would be a cloth visor? Thanks, Lou

they had cloth visors, seats and  car ceilings.

perhaps stuck it on the back side of the visor, if it was on the front, when you needed to pull
the visor down to block the sun, it would fall out into your lap.

   just a thought.

This is a local piece, Amecks, where are you?? Mr. Matson was I believe a banker, and owned a car dealership. The more desirable types of this visor mounted reminder were bigger advertising names such as Canadian Club.

they also made some with two clips to put on your visor that had small dials to turn to change the numbers,
 those were plastic.

do any of you folks remember the 45 RPM record players that they sold to install  in your auto ?
around the 50's.   if you hit a good bump, the needle would jump up. ( good for scrathing the records)l

Hello, Turnut. This has 5 separate dials that you turn to set the future oil change date. I just used a sharp pencil in the dials to turn them. It only goes to 99,999, that is about 80,000 miles short of my '04 Silverado!!!!!!  Regards, Lou

I think I saw one of those in a car at a car show once.

Lou, is there any marks on the dials where someone may have used a common pin ?

back in the 50's, the catalog of choice was J .C .Whitney, , (if my memory is right)  Warshawsky became J. C. W HITNEY.

they had everything that you needed or wanted.  Warshawsky startedas a junk yard, selling used car parts,  somewhere I
    have catalogs from both companies.

I bought quite a bit from J C Whitney in the old days.
I have a string of led lights on  the bed of the truck between the bumper and tailgate ( brake and taillights ) that still work today.
They are still in business.

Hi Lou.  Just noticed this post this morning.  It sounds like you already googled Matson and Scriber.  There's an obituary, apparently there are roads named Matson in the area, and another link may be existing relatives in the area.
If it is not very sellable, maybe one of his relatives would appreciate it?

Hello, Al. I have found family pieces before, and usually the family is not interested. I even tried to return a set of Military Dog Tags, and the family did not want them. But I will look into it. Thanks, Lou

I thought you were supposed to play records on those when you were parked.  Nice, romantic records.  While you were parked somewhere you could neck.
