By the way, I imagine that you've told them that any medical tools with handles that they use need to be Perfect Handle tools.

Looks like the docs are trying to decide what we are going to do. They put me back on blood thinners, so that means no surgery soon. They both say the fluid is not enough to drain.
Had a nice therapy nurse in today and we walked around the unit so she could get a feel for what I should do at home.

Looks like more Lasix or another drug to keep the swelling down is in the picture.

I WANT TO GO HOME !!!!

I feel for you Papaw,  Iv'e had 4 3 day stays since Dec.23, 2016.  I dislike their food, and I can't sleep in a hospital bed.
they bother you all day & night.

today I had to swallow a camera, went in for 6:50 am, went home and had to go back at 3 pm for them to remove the monitor,
tonight I passed the camera.  they say that I should hear from them in two weeks ????
they had done the throat scope, but that only goes as far as the stomach,  the camera is the modern way of checking your intestines.

hope they make a good decision for you.   Frank

2017 has been a big year for me and hospitals. Only two were pleasant. I had cataract surgery on each eye, then a colonoscope and an upper GI scope in two days. Then this little escapade.

Food here isn't bad, and the bed is really good. The worst thing is having so much time without the family and all the little things we become accustomed to having at our fingertips at home.

I hope the camera wasn't a full-sized single lens reflex; or worse:

Bill, no, it was shaped like a capsule, just a tad bigger in the dia. up til yesterday, the procedure was working on my mind,
as they explained to me that it could get hung up, it has a plashing light on the end that is supposed to go forward in your throat.
the flashing last for about 8 hours, 7:02 am  I swallowed it  and 3:04 pm the beeper went off, then last night around 8 pm it passed thru.

  now the wait for results.

my wife will never forget the look on my face the day they told me that I had to swallow the camera.

p.s. it felt good to eat this morning.

OK, I'm now imagining you looking like Wile E. Coyote: open your mouth, and there's a flashing light inside.  And then the light showing up on your torso as it makes its way through.

I have a vigorous swallow reflex; hope I never have to take THAT test!  I'm glad the test went well, and hope that the results are good.

Papaw and Turnnut, best wishes for a speedy exit! Hospitals are overpriced hotels where unpleasant things happen. Turnnut, I feel your discomfort. I had colonoscopy a while back and as small and rounded as that little camera looks, When I woke up after the roofies (date rape drugs) wore off I swear that the guy strapped it to a canoe paddle to get it where it was going.
Papaw, if you don't harass the nurses properly, I'll be very disappointed. GET WELL SOON!

back here, it seems that the hospital looks at your insurance, that will determine how long they hold you.

Here's hoping you get to go home and relax a little.   I always manage to eat and sleep in hospitals; it's usually the other  patients who bother me more than the nurses.   I'm guessing they will keep you on the diuretic for a while; I get a couple every morning and it keeps me busy.
