Tool Sale
« on: April 13, 2017, 06:18:57 PM »
I posted a while back about the best way for my Dad's collection to find it's way into appreciative hands. I don't have the space for all of it to follow me home. We've been selling some on Ebay.

We'll be selling a large part of his collection (woodworking, metal working, farrier's, and so much more) on the weekend of 4/22-23 in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you would like to come by and check it out, please email me for details at cnotthoff@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Charlie

California area members might take a look at the sale. Any pictures?

Day 2 today. There are still a lot of planes and other tools. Lots of wooden tool boxes. Email me at cnotthoff@hotmail.com if you want to take a look.

That looks sweet.  Too bad it's three hours away from me.

Many people drove farther. My favorite comment from a picker in the back yard (pic is the front) was:

Picker: "I've never seen a tool collection this big"

Me: "Have you seen a lot of tool collections?"

Picker: "I'm a member of a vintage tool club"

Me: "I guess so."

Am wondering if anyone here knows what the device is on the floor, next to the left drill press.   I had two big rollers.   I know, but even in ag circles it is becoming unknown.  Guesses?

Northwoods has it, a hog oiler, once it was thought that hogs would rub less if they had nice soft skin.   They literally would shake wooden hog sheds apart, didn't do fences and gates any good either.  Cast iron and probably weighs north of 120lbs.

they sure look like oilers, and there are some die-hearted collectors of hog oilers.

they were are big upgrade from the post in the ground with a burlap sack attached with dripping oil on them.

The hog oiler didn't sell. Only one guy at the sale knew what it was. We sold tons, and I mean that literally. We still have a ton or two and will have another sale.

If any of you are interested in a tour, please contact me at cnotthoff@hotmail.com . I will be down there a few times in May to help you load your truck.

Hey Rusty, Can you provide link to that YouTube video? My pictures don't do it justice.

Here's a picture of a guy named Rusty he took a couple of loads of old iron.
