estate sale finds
« on: March 19, 2017, 09:34:58 AM »
Hello, I went to a sale and found a nice PPG Metal Wall Cabinet, ( I am guessing automotive paint?)  filled with years of accumulated stuff, gas can, oil spouts, hardware, etc. I paid for it & left, went to pick it up today, thinking that all I paid for was the cabinet. Everything was still inside, so I lugged everything home. After sorting through, I came across these 2 gems, At top is a 20" long screwdriver, unmarked, tapered (across the width)  flat steel blade, flat tip for slotted screws. Handle has 4 shallow rings, at first I thought this was a Buck Bros. tool. At bottom is a Stanley Everlasting 3/4" Chisel, not abused, but will need a good cleaning. Regards, Lou

Nice finds. I'm not familiar with Buck Bros, other than I think I have a weird electricians plier tool with their name on it around here somewhere.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Hello, Bob. Thanks!!  Here is a picture of a Buck Bros. Catalog, a reprint, but has great info inside. They made a wide range of hand tools, mostly edge tools. Regards, Lou

Okay, looks like I'm mistaken. The plier tool I have is stamped BUCK ELEC MFG. CO.  Sounds like it is an entirely different outfit than Buck Bros.

They made chisels, of course. I have their steel handled claw hammer and hatchet.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.
