I remember Hoover vacuum cleaners. Every time my grandmother turned hers on both me and the cat ran out of the room screaming. I was so lucky today because of the bad weather keeping people indoors. I have gotten a few Starrett items in the past, but was the mother lode. They must have put the stuff out Weds evening after i left and they were closed yesterday. They opened late today and i was about the third person in the store. I have only found two Starrett items in the past there. I will bet the stuff was donated by some widow who was cleaning out the garage. I now need to go up the street and pimp myself so i can earn a few dollars and go buy something else.

Ha! Lou, I get the same feeling about you when I go to the Regional Market (Sunday flea market).  Just kidding Lou.  But I only go to the Restore about once a year, usually to clear out household materials and make room in my garage.

Nice haul, Doc.

I went back this evening and picked up 4 more items. No picture this time.

A 17 inch OL Save Edge farriers rasp. New condition and there was two others, but they were rusty.

2 large Craftsman open end wrenches. 1 x 15/16  and 1-1/16 x 1-1/8. Cadmium finish on them.

A long Bondhus 5/16 Allen driver with the ball end.

$4.85

This is a great find, regardless the type of store.   Nicest thing I saw at the habitat store recently was a Craftsman handsaw.  It was straight and three dollars.  I think  you are right about a widow donating things.

I learned about the little jacks from watching Kieth Ruckers You Tube channel on vintage machinery. He is always restoring things where he has to make things on the lathe or on a mill. He is a big fan of Starrett tools.

Great finds. Great prices make it even better.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

I went out in the garage and brought the jacks and misc. parts in the house. The only place i see the Starrett name is on the long extensions. The box is a Starrett, but from a Last Word indicator. There is 12 pieces to the set. When screwed all the way down, the jacks are appox 2-1/4 inches high. The little rod that raises the jacks is gone. The box is toast. Wrapped in duct tape. I may just sell them as i have no use for them.

If my Restore ever had anything that good, they would want 200.00 for them.
