Par x found a few
« on: December 07, 2016, 10:31:29 PM »
I think ParX was snapon's value line before Blue Point.

Anyone have dates?

I dont find too many so I was surprised to dig these out of a rusty toolbox this week

They are not high quality tools.

They are not high quality tools.

Why do you say that?

3 weeks ago i picked up a PAR-X top tool chest. it's 26 inches long and 14-1/2 inches tall. Top compartment with 4 drawers below. I also have a few PAR-X wrenches. Will try to post a picture later.

Par-X was a value line for Snap-on from very late 60's to early 80's. Mostly they were older SO patterns with less polish. The ratchets all used SO guts. Screwdrivers used older Snap-on handles - early ones used the octo grips but the amber ones in your pic are later and the same handles as Snap-on nut drivers from about that era. The tool boxes were different than Snap-ons though. Even the cardboard boxes hey came in looked like the red and white Snap-on ones. They were sold off the trucks but not seen them in any of the catalogs.

All my taste is in my tools.

I have collected maybe 3 Par X tools.   If I remember right they only came as sets?  It was Snapons idea to keep the truck operators from carrying a cheaper brand X name.
