Stealth wrenches!
« on: November 22, 2016, 10:32:59 PM »
Air Force and their stealth airplanes aren't all that new an idea.   For the past few years the number of stealth wrenches has increased tremendously.   Lay it down, five seconds later and it is gone!   Haven't taken two steps, and it just isn't there at all.  Look for two days, and it decloaks, is laying in a previously empty spot.   Had a few stealth screwdrivers but haven't seen them come back for some time.   Even had a stealth chain saw one time.    Put it in the shop after firewood season, then needed to trim a limb, it was so gone that I must of had a visitor.   Even went in the shop at night with a strong flashlight, checked under things, behind boxes, nothing, no sign at all.   Went to the same pawnshop I bought the first one, got a near twin to it, as I knew the kinks of that model.   Used it as is, carried it to the shop and tripped over something sticking out from under the drill press.   First saw reappeared, right where I had been walking for weeks.  Had cobwebs, so I knew no one had swiped it, must of been hiding in some dusty corner while it was cloaked.  I'd  like to sell some of these stealth wrenches,  get em out of the shop,  but can't lay my hand on any at the present.

My latest was a stealth spring for a Plomb ratchet.
Take it apart.
Clean it thoroughly.
Lay out the pieces on a towel.
Get the grease tube ready.
Insert pawls and one spring.
Aaaaaaand.....
Get stupid look on face.
Use bright light.  Use magnet.  Crawl on floor with face at carpet level.
Give up and cannibalize another Plomb that has a missing selector.
Keep telling self that the spring will show up eventually.
Probably.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

What happens when you buy a tool to replace one that's hiding is Tool #1 comes out to play with its new friend.  You probably hurt your original chainsaw's feelings in some way when you put it away - failed to check the chain tension or something - and it was sulking.

Exactly, Bill! The "missing" wrench was lonely and was hoping to be found. Then you bring in another and it gets jealous!
