1/4" B&D Drill Kit box
« on: November 02, 2016, 06:02:31 PM »
Came home with a cool little/old box today.
7" X 11" and 5" tall.
Shows rust, dings, and paint splatters.  Cool as all get out.
Would make a perfect Goat Roper lunch box.

Like this one, only mine acts its age:

Very neat.  Does it have those annoying partitions inside or is it open space.  The partitions or socket trays in some tool boxes make it hard to repurpose them.

You just need to buy yourself a spot weld "drill," to remove the partitions.

The partition was a cord holder in the lid? and is long gone.
It is wide open and very solid.  I like it.

That is a neat box. I didn't know BD had anything like that.

The address on the box is
Towson 4 Md. USA

No Zip code, and so that puts it back a ways.  And who makes 1/4" drills anymore?

After the middle of World War II and before 1963.  Which would be about right for that design anyway.

In the 50s, 1/4" electric drills were the Tool of the Day - everybody sold them, and you could get accessories that would do everything except wind the cat.

Oh, yeah.  My dad had one on the farm attached to a 5" augur.
Saved a whole lot of scooping grain.
That thing ran for hours and hours.

My Cummings drill came with a cat whining attachment. You should hear it howl at high speed.
