Just when I thought I'd seen it all
« on: October 31, 2016, 07:33:48 PM »
Well, folks, I was down in the shop last night. My 13 year old dog got a wild hair and started bucking around for no reason that I could discern. The next thing I knew, the table saw was running.... I didn't turn it on. I rewired the switch to the table saw to a foot peddle. I thought it would be great to be able to turn the saw off , if faced with a problem piece of wood, with my foot... Freeing up my hands to rest firmly on a piece of wood. Leave it to my old dog to jump on the foot peddle! She seemed a little surprised that her hyperness led to a running saw.... Not half as surprised as I was!!!!
Well, I'm up here in the mountains, and it's starting to get pretty cold. I do have heat at my house that I will occasionally turn on. But, I'm at my friends house.... 2000 ft up from me in elevation.... It's cold here, and we don't have much wood to speak of.... Time to find someone to deliver a few courts (so?) up here!!! Love you all... Oh, happy Halloween.... An odd holiday, I've always thought

You aren't on the porch handing out candy?   For the 20+ years in a row, no trick or treaters here, back in the hills, and the heat is on too.

I live in the Northwest and there is plenty of free firewood to be had. I am on Craig's list everyday and somebody is always trying to get rid of scrap wood from trees that have fallen and scrap building materials. Back 49 years ago tonight i wound up in the hospital for 5 weeks from kids having fun on Halloween shooting out car windows of passing cars. Cost me the sight in my left eye.

When I lived in the village the kids would be out knocking on doors before I even got home from work at 5:30, and it would continue until about 9:00 (mostly teenagers by then).  Now 12 years living outside the village - the only trick or treaters I've seen have been our own grandkids!

Mrs. Chilly loves to hand out candy. Most years she gives each trick-or-treater a handfull. Some come back.

This year we got big bars, regular size. I have an awful costume. I just sit still for little kids, so as nit to scare them.  I hold the candy bowl. Big kids, sometimes I hand them candy. It usually scares the heck out of them,  they just think I'm another decoration.

We even have real tombstones. I bought them at a monument companies auction some years back.
