CRAFTSMAN hammer

Perhaps a silly question, but what is the meaning of the letter M after "REG. TRADE MARK" on this CRAFTSMAN hammer.
I bought this hammer several years ago on the Amsterdam fleamarket. I rare find in the Netherlands.

Thought to be an identifier of the actual manufacturer for Craftsman. That mark is believed to belong to Vaughan & Bushnell Mfg.

Bill, thanks for the information. I also have a hammer mfd. by Vaughan. Rare in this country too.

It might be counterintuitive, I can confirm that - I've seen the logo a few times in my life.

Hello, Let me see if I've got this. The M only refers to Vaughan & Bushnell as the Original Equipment Manufacturer when they made the hammer ( or other products ) for Craftsman? The M is not used by Vaughan & Bushnell as a trademark anywhere else? Regards, Lou

I'm guessing the M marking was chosen by Craftsman, not by V&B.

Hello, Henri. I am still struggling with all of the info. The best way that I can put it, is the Registered Trademark only refers to the CRAFTSMAN stamp.Regards, Lou
