Billhook found
« on: October 16, 2016, 10:55:08 PM »
There was a guy here with a collection of Billhooks, awhile back.   Never seen one except for his pics, until yesterday.   Was in a big resell shop, in the tool dept. a fellow older than me was looking at this thing, when he went to put it back I grabbed it.   Fullsize, long handled Billhook, Briars Edge,  service tools.   Even the guys at the desk asked what the heck is it.   Seems like it was part of Tru-Temper tools.   The handle was just installed, new handle, plus found a matching new handle leaning against the wall.  Some rust on the blade where it had been on the ground in a dirt floored shop.  Cleaned up well, had a decent edge on one side.  Putting in better bolts, getting it sharper and going to try it on some wild rose bushes out back.  Looks like it would great for brush.  Did I overdo it at $13.00  ?
