You know, I got into collecting wrenches because I was way too poor to collect woodworking planes, or the like. Don't get me wrong, I have fallen in love with wrenches, and pretty much any other tool. But, I don't know why I don't drop by this particular forum more often. After all, I am a woodworker...... and I have just spent my last dime on primarily woodworking tools!!! So, what better place for me to be then here???
The backdrop to where I'm sitting is six wall length shelves of molding planes. Currently, they are filled with hollow and rounds..... it's a slow process to find some matches.... same no and co. .... goodness knows the same no and a different co. doesn't mean much! I have a lot of the metal planes..... and, I'll admit, they are quite popular. And, I'll also admit that I do use hand planes, primarily metal ones. I guess that doesn't make me much of a purest. Everything I work with is "rough cut" wood. I suppose I use a 30-38 in wood joiner to "hog out" most material before I move to a (yes, it's true) power jointer and then planer. I've never gotten involved in the detail that certain complex molders would offer. I'm a simple person, and I enjoy simple woodworking.
That being said, I have an obvious fascination with every type of woodworking tool, or any tool at all, for that matter, that I may be blessed with having. I love them all. If I can't find a way to fit all these planes upstairs in my house .... out of my shop.... I'll be losing some business!!!!
Just wanted to say hi to the woodworkers in our wrench forum.
cheers
