ID please, times 2
« on: October 23, 2011, 09:39:53 PM »
I keep looking at these screwdrivers and thinking, lets get some some wood on these.
So I have read Scott G's instructions a couple of times and am now hunting some decent wood.

Meanwhile, does anyone know the brands of these two ? No markings on them.

Thanks

I don't know about maker, but I could probably find you some nice Walnut to handle them up with.....did ya ever find that vlchek wbe we pm'd about??

How thick would you need some wood for them and approx. size. I could hook you up if what I have is thick enough.

The second one is almost certainly H D Smith, but I can't prove that, It was not in the last catalog. I have one, and claim it to be H D Smith Perfect Handle until proven otherwise.

Key, I had to go back and find the thread, that was a WBE24 3/4 combo. I know I havent sold it, will bump it up to the top of my Lookin' For List !
Looks like 2 pieces @  4x1x1.5 would work, let me know if you have anything that would fit.

The top one with square insets under where the wood would be looks like the Irwin I had (with no wood, which is why I know the insets are there), look closely  under the wood area for a faint marking...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

If it's good enough for Papaw...

Looked closely, but there is a fair amount of pitting. No matter!

Not my area of expertise, but will post pics when done. Now, don't be holding your breath waiting on these...
