Hi guys, I should know this but am drawing a blank..... what does a and m stand for??

No help, but A & M as in Texas A & M stands for agriculture and mechanical.

 Hi Bird,

  is it A.M.   or    A. &  m.   ?

 AM was in Buffalo, N.Y.  they made adjustable bicycle wrenches

it's a 5 in adjustable wrench (bike wrench?) it says "A.& M. Buffalo, NY.
Glad to know I'm not missing something terribly obvious! I will have to take pictures

cope lists AM as bicycle wrench in 1890-1900. also gives Schultz number as114 which shows a rectangular body shape with a knurled center adjuster.
