I haven't said anything in awhile, seems nobody was looking for me, anyways.  Been busy, turned 65, retired from my job of 24 years.   Got my tool box home, spent endless hours on the phone getting insurance straightened out.  Drug my fathers old pickup home and put windows in it.  Had lots of rain here and had to work pretty hard to get ahead of the weeds and grass.  Of course wife says since I am not employeed anymore I can mow those other spots in the yard that I usually ignore.  Big yard, live on the farm.  Also painting the house.  Just got done with the back, where it is 29 foot to the peak, and not crazy about ladders.  Bought a few old tools, but anymore ask myself how many of an item I have, when I spot another.  Cleaning saws, trying to sort the piles, and keep bringing those home.  Swore off old tool boxes, as my shop is too crowded now.   Will throw in my two cents when I feel is necessary.

You are a strange one, indeed.  You will climb a ladder, even though everyone knows that ladders are for the young, and you won't buy more tool boxes, even though you know well enough that no one ever has enough tool boxes!  BTW, happy retirement.  Take it from me:  it is sweet!

Have to climb ladders,  because I live in the country and can't seem to be a contractor, or painter, or electrician to come out here.  Tool boxes, had to really push and shove to get my good box from work in the shop.  Snapon 33in. wide,  also have my old box which is a Craftman grey bottom with an early red Blackhawk ten drawer on top.  Got a family members box, three and three drawer set, Craftsman 1950s.   Got a little 22 inch wide NAPA 3 drawer and a shelf with a lid on top.  At last count have 4 machinist boxes, including my fathers from a WWII defense plant.   The small carry boxes number between 15 and 18 I think.  The long carpenters boxes that will hold hand saws, probably five or maybe six of those.  Think I am approaching my limit, after all the shop is only 30 foot long, and have two cars in there, 3 engines, two welders, drill press, five file cabinets, a neat Craftsman rotary table with grinders and mitre saw affixed to it.  Is so tight I have to step outside to draw a full breathe, whew.  Glad to see so many faces here still, and still collecting those New Britain wrenches.  Pic of my tool box on the day it came home from work.   John in Nebraska

note to Northwoods;  I have extension ladders and step ladders,  some had tags or stickers for weight capacity, maximum extension
and a few that warned about standing on the top step.

but I have yet to see a warning about climbing ladders after turning 65.

is that a new OSHA rule that I have failed to read ???

my son is always telling me to call him to help.  but I am the type that has to do it when I am thinking about it, not later.
besides he works long hours.

Trust me, I noticed you were missing. I value you input very much, an ime sure others do.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
