Can anyone date this tool chest?
« on: July 04, 2021, 07:27:00 PM »
I have had this chest for about 20 years.  I bought it with the idea of filling it with vintage tools consistent with the age of the chest. However, somewhere along the way I lost sight of what I was putting into it as I really don't know the age of the chest.  The chest is very heavy and made of tulip popular and oak.  Inside it has six sliding sections that are made of quarter sawn oak and in the bottom a section for saws.  Although not shown as I took them off and stored them inside there are four cast iron swivel casters with just over two inch cast iron wheels made by Schacht.  Also as you can see in the pictures all the corners are made of about 1/8" brass.  And lastly, someone must have loved brass screws or just had a lot of them available.  When I bought it I was told that it came from Maine.
