One antique store I go in has a tool section and a lot of the tools are marked "mystery tool".
The funny thing is they usually have one hell of a price on them. I've always wondered if they don't know what it is why the outrageous price.

Hello, Bill. Thanks for the moral support. And, heelspur, the store wanted way too much at first for the mystery tool, but after I shook off the dust, and asked how long it had been there, they loosened up a little. Regards, Lou

Seen plenty of (RARE) mystery tools with big price tags.   If I like a display at an antique mall, and the prices aren't bad, I've been known to write the real name or use of a tool on its little paper tag, so maybe the next guy has a clue.  Never alter or cross out anything, just add the correct thing.   Also careful not to get caught.
