wrenches and more wrenches
« on: March 01, 2016, 05:33:51 PM »
Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is a kosher thing to do or not... so someone tell me if I'm out of line please. I don't usually have many wrenches for sale on ebay because, well, I keep them all:) I sorted through them in a lengthy process last week and weeded out duplicates... which turned out to be in the 3 or 4 hundreds range!! If anyone wants to look at them over on ebay and has any interest in them, I would end the listing and sell them cheaper to one of you. I wasn't sure if I should list them here first, but there seemed to be too many to list here. Anyhow, I have a bunch of lots of 50 or 60 wrench lots. If anyone else has duplicate wrench piles I'd swap piles with someone. I hope everyone is doing well over here
Cheers

For wood, it's a jet 1221vs. My main goal is to turn pens, an who knows what else. It's nothing huge so ile be limited. I think it's a good start thoe.

I got it at woodcrafts 2 day spring sale. It was 15% off but even then it was expensive. I also got a whole bunch of accessories. I spent almost as much on the accessories as I did the lathe.

What size does a piece of wood need to be for a pen blank? I think I have a few pieces of purple heart down in the shop . Anyhow, let me know how it goes, and if their are certain kinds of wood and sizes that you could use. I'll be anxious to see how it goes!!

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the wrenches and am happy I know they went to good homes. If anyone's looking for any particular wrench, I'm highly involved with my wrenches right now, so I might actually be able to find a specific wrench:)!!!

Most pre cut pen blanks are 3/4 by 3/4 by 5". That size works for most pens. Some pens with a larger diameter need a larger blank. The main thing for wood is the grain orientation.

Blanks come solid an have to have the whole drilled for the specific pen tube. There's several size pens. Most pen kits I bought were 7mm. I don't have a drill press yet but am going to drill the blanks on my lathe.

I actually bought 4 boxes of 100 assorted blanks sized 3/4 by 3/4 by 5". I got a great price on them. I was at woodcraft an I asked the guy going by if any difference between the boxes. They looked identical but different prices. He looked, paused an came back with his manager. The manager looked the tag an labels description matched the box but price was wrong. He said he would honor the marked price for me cause it's their mistake.

Considering I have 400 blanks I don't really need any 3/4 by 3/4 right now. I would be interested if you have a little thicker of stock. I wouldnt need many but who knows. Let me know what size you have. Just send me a private message an we can see what we can work out, maybe a trade of some type.  Of course they can always be bigger but would hate to waste expensive wood.
