Unmarked old 1/2 drive ratchet
« on: December 10, 2015, 03:27:50 PM »
Here's an odd one, no markings at all, and a drive mechanism that, it seems, you push in 1/16 of an inch to change direction... or freewheel. The drive is riveted together so I can't clean and lube it properly. The handle is hollow, maybe to use a cheater bar for more leverage? And there is a raised button on the back disguised as a rivet head to push the socket off. Any idea of a maker and timeline?

If he takes it apart it'll likely no longer be a ratchet.  The clutch mech on the later ones is a pain.  Never seen this one but would love to own it!!

Can't clean and lube it--but you can soak it in oil for an hour.
Rinse and repeat!

That's a new one for me, very neat

I can't bring myself to believe that was made by Hinsdale, but I cannot find a patent on that mechanism.  The closest is of course Pfauser's Blackhawk patent.
