I always thought that everyone had at least one slip-joint pliers. have a few in the garage,
house and even in my truck.

but then some people think that everyone has a cell phone,  and that is one item
 that I have never had.

Everyone's got good points.

I guess it's something I just don't really use all that often. Of course I have them but I am more likely to use other pliers first. There are deffintly applications were slip joint works the best.

I have only ever bought one pair new. It came in a set, by proto. The rest I have got here or there or at a garage sale for a dollar or something like that.

I to keep a pair in my truck but then again I have a lot of tools in my truck.

I was just at Home Depot yesterday an was looking at tools. I thought of this thread an took a look. They sell slip joint but not near as the brand or size selection of all the other types.

I think those no matter the times its a time proven tool here to stay.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Just about every farmer around here has a pair of Cee Tee Slip Joint Pliers in their overall pocket and have had for has long as I can remember.

Sound like me. I've used this pair more times than I can count.

There are definitely better pliers out there, but for little jobs like cotter pins and stuff they work just fine for me. I've tried a couple newer style slip joint pliers (kobalt and craftsman evolv) but the damn handles were too big and you could barely fit them in your pocket. You can generally find the older pairs for $1 or less at swap meets and garage sales.
