Antique Farm Tool Identification
« on: July 12, 2015, 11:19:53 AM »
I have an old farm tool and I am trying to identify it.  Can anyone help and tell me what it is?

Welcome to Tool Talk!

I have no clue on that item, but I bet someone here will.

Looks like it clamps around a lid.
Part of a weird butter churn ?

Looks like it clamps onto something to turn by hand like maybe a flywheel or pulley or such.

I would say it is definitely a clamp of some sort.

Particularly to clamp and turn something round (such as a lid) - as per the half moon shaped groove on either piece of the wood, and the handle.

I think Lostmind is on to something.  I could use it to open those pesky salsa jars.  On The Border are the toughest.  But their salsa is superior!

I have saw something like that with a cutter that goes over the top. It was used for slicing blocks of cheese.

I very well could be wrong on its intended use thoe.
