8" HackSaw Blades

Sorry if this has come up before.

Does anyone know where I might purchase 8" long hack saw blades?

Are they gone the way of buggy whips?

My bad!  Should have been more clear.

Looking for conventional hand hacksaw blades for antique hack saw that is 8" long.

Blades need to be 8 inches long.

Here is a picture of a saw that won't accept 10" or 12" blades.  Only 8".

I encountered the same problem a few years ago and wound up making my own.  Cut a 10" or larger blade to desired length using tin snips, Use the cut off piece as a template for the mounting hole and to replicate the shape of the original end. Use a grinder to form, then drill the mounting hole.

I do this all the time.  It's extremely easy!  A 12 inch blade makes one for my 8 inch hacksaw and another for my 4 incher.  Scraps left over from making blades for my 6 inch hack saw make blades for scratch stock or work as scrapers.

It'll make the holes for the pins in the hacksaw frame better than drilling.

Broken hacksaw blades make excellent lock picks, just need to grind them to the various shapes.
also makes good scrapers.. Exacto type specialty knifes, etc..
