On a lighter note...old WD40 ad
« on: May 02, 2015, 01:53:23 PM »
This is a genuine ad from 1964 when WD-40 was first released.
Their ad department certainly had a way with words !

We may have had this before, but some of the new guys may have missed it.

So you're saying this Viagra stuff was unnecessary?

How come all the really fun stuff is fake?  The paper and printing looked good.

I usually check Snopes but in this case never gave it a thought.

My apologies...but it still would be a neat ad.

I've seen a couple things that snopes has debunked then snopes got debunked right back.
They're mostly right on most issues though, imo.

Let me add a note of reality thiWD40.  I was at Moffett field with the new F3H Demon breaking in a new Sqn in 1958 when the Allison rep said
some friends of his had brewed up great stuff for anticorrosion.   He got the sqn to buy a bunch and they used it liberally and it did stop corrosion.  Later the O&R deopot got all upset as they had a terrible time getting it off to repaint. I used it on my pistols and found that with time it gummed things up.  Needs to be used with care.  It uses Menhadden fish oil + solvents.

That's what I heard, too.  But when you check the contents on WD 40 these days, there's no mention of fish oil.
