Blackford estatate (Olney, Ill) auction
« on: April 23, 2015, 06:40:42 PM »
Too bad they didn't do the wrench portion of this collection justice -- there should be some goodies for those who can attend in person (http://www.rothrockauction.com/View_Auctions.asp?ID=455) = May 8th ( http://www.rothrockauction.com/View_Auctions.asp?ID=456 ) May 9th.

Kate Blackford is personal representative for the estate & may be able to supply more info. ( katieb@murvinandmeier.com )

Nice to see you out there again Jim. I lost you after a bit, did you leave? I was going to when they started paying $55 for $20 wrenches, but extremely happy I didn't. The last 2 wagons were in the buyers favor for the most part. I bought a lot off them.

Yes I left early due to stomach cramps and the threat of rain. It rained as hard as I've ever seen it rain for about 20 miles north of Olney. I figured the bargains might come late due to rain but gave it up. They had several wrenchs I would have liked but nothing that said (this is it;take me home). Nice to see you again.

There was some real hard rain at the sale too, made it impossible to sell, but they did anyway. Couldn't hear them at all for about 10 minutes. I'll post a few wrenches I got on here, as they don't really fit my farm implement group. But I did end up with some great oddball farm wrenches too. I'm sorry you left before the end, you could have got some decent stuff at the right price late. We stayed until the bitter end and didn't end up getting home until 8:30ish this morning. Glad that was the last sale out there, wouldn't want to do that again for a while.

13 hours of driving time. I didn't do to well with it either, as I am still worn out from it all. But to find the best stuff out there sometimes you have to go the extra mile, or 800 miles. Garage sales and flea markets around these parts are garbage, unless you want 50 cent stuff that isn't even worth that much really. Next Saturday I'm going close to 4 hours away for a similar type sale. Going to seem like a short drive now.
