3/4" Drive Plomb
« on: September 18, 2011, 08:17:59 PM »
Found this big boy a couple weeks ago.  I have just been a little behind in sharing (or gloating as the case may be).
Its a plomb  3/4" drive (5649).

I just picked up the same on off of CL about 3 weeks ago. The drive plug on mine was made by P&C a Plomb owned company starting in 1941. Mine has the wrong screws holding it together, but I have the correct ones to restore it. The former owner used straight slotted screws. He did use ones with the correct thread pitch,  so no side cover damage. I also have the 1/2 inch one. Now I need to get the 1/4 inch one.

Does yours have a removable drive plug ? If it does, you might check to see if it is marked with the makers name.

The plug is removable, I'll check when I get home to see if there is a makers name.  I didn't notice one when I cleaned the ratchet up, but I wasn't really looking for one.  I assumed that it was just part of the ratchet and wouldn't have any markings.

Sometime back I had another Plomb 3/4 drive ratchet that also had a removable drive plug. It was a pebble field style ratchet. I don't remember if it had a plug that was marked with a makers name. I am going to keep this one.

I checked the plug.  No markings of any kind.
