A very complicated saw set

Along with the saw in another post, I also got this saw set from Donnelly's.

Saw sets run the gamut from simple ones you hit with a hammer, like the Aiken, the many plier types like the Morrill and Stanley and then there is this one.  From a "gizmocity" standpoint this would probably be a 10.  From a practical and cost standpoint, probably a 2.

I posted the link to the patent below.  As you can see, the actual piece is very much like the drawings.

Turnnut,  yes it is.

I Liked the hammer head too.  Kind of fitting on a saw set.

I forgot to mention in my original post that the springs are very strong.  The thumbscrew at the rear by the pivot, allows you to adjust the tension in the flat spring.  Thus regulating how hard the "hammer" hits the saw tooth.

Bob, about all I had to do was wipe the dust off.  No crud like you usually find on these old tools.  This doesn't look like it was ever used.
