"Takes up too much clutter space, Spring cleaning? they or there family member doesn't use the tools anymore, they don't know how to fix them", all excuses used by these people..  I think They don't know the value of the tools & they don't want the trouble of selling it, etc..  All I know is, I can use them, fix them, sell them, appreciate them...  So we both are happy..

Some people stumble, fall and break their nose, then there are people that stumble because they tripped over a brick made of gold.  Great pick up!  My best find like that was a six inch B&D circular saw sitting on the curb. Cuts trim and laminate flooring perfect every time.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Great finds. Jointers around here don't sell very well. I have two Craftsmans. Both are 4 inchers. I paid $4.00 for one and the other one was free. I have a good friend who has been in the scrap metal / auto wrecking business since 1953 and his place looks like a museum. His house is the same way. One should go to one of the large scrap dealers for just one day. You will come a way crying. His place is in the Napa valley and people there don't care about old stuff. They just want to bulldoze everything and plant grapes. When people go to my friends yard to buy something, they are amazed at the stuff he has. Kinda like Dizzyland , but no mouse robbing you at the gate. He has one tool i gave him about 35 years ago. A cast iron Acme table saw that use to run off line shaft with a 1898 pat.date. My friend is different than most people who like old stuff. He says stuff was made to be used, not stuffed in a glass case and stared at. He collects Plomb tools and he uses them.

when our local dump closed 20-25 years ago, my wife was happy.

every time I made a trip to the dump, I returned with more colllectables.

yes, they even dumped good stuff back then, for years, that is where my lawnmowers
came from.  many times, just change the spark plug, change the oil & air filter, gas
it up and you were ready to cut grass. used to sharpen the blades with the grindstone
that would mount in my hand drill. (still have that somewhere)

Just sold the Rockwell for $200, but then I checked internet, those old working tools are listed for ~$600 + shipping...
No complaints as I got $200 for Loading, unloading & 3 hours of fun work cleaning, sharpening, fixing the tool...

Cleaned up the craftsman, looks good, but I don't know about the plug, is it designed for 220V? or 110V?,
assume it is for higher amps 20A? than standard 15A wall plugs..

changed the obsolete plug, plugged in, it runs great!!!  Found a manual for it on internet (1960 model)

Looks like NEMA 2-15 and you can wire to a new 120v AC plug.

They are from the 60's ir earlier, I think.

That Rockwell/Delta 6" Jointer/Planner is really nice, both front & Back tables move.  42" tables.. also the stand has lifting wheels & the motor is strong!!  had several offers for more, but my brother fell in love with it, so I let him have it, to keep it in the family...
