Couldn't help it - new tool on clearance...
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:40:55 PM »
Motion Pro T-handle ratchet.  Made in Taiwan.  Yes this is still on clearance if you want one.  Only $5.99 but it cost $6.50 to ship - unless you're lucky enough to have a store nearby with one in stock.  The online purchase process will check for you - you can cancel if you don't want to pay freight.
I have been wanting one of these but I have never used one before.  I hope it is useful.

That looks sort of interesting but I have a similar designed ratchet made by craftsman which the main difference to this one is the cman has a vertical handle coming up of one end of one of the wings. There have been a few posts about the cman ratchet so I think most of you folks know which one I'm talking about. This guy shows a patent No D386955, can any body tell me if that is an American or a Taiwanese patent number ? If it's an American number it seems to me that would be patent infringement but maybe as  Cmans version was not all that great a seller they may have let their patent expire. In my opinion the cman version looks good and I thought it would be usefull but I've had it for several years and I know I could count on one hand the number of times I've used it. On a side note when people are over at my place and they see my Craftsman version, for the most part they think it's the coolest ratchet they have ever seen.

I do not believe that it would be a patent infringement due to the fact that the patentee's were from
the United States of America.

Design 386955 was granted to  Darrel D. Jones & Kathleen E. Jones of Manchester, Kentucky
on Dec. 2, 1997
they applied for a patent on Oct. 18, 1996

it is possible that they shopped around to find someone to make them where the cost would fit their budget, or, someone that would give them a good buyout price.

Patents have a limited time, then the idea is in the public domain and cannot be repatented.  The Craftsman ratchet was introduced in 1960.
