Nothing special, but still bought a lot of old tools

Picked these up the other day. The seller did not want to divide all the hand tools so I just took the whole box. I got the vise an threader as well. The vise is by ridgid, just like the bender. Threader is by NYE.

Good score. That's the way all tool finds should be. The only way it would be better if the former owner wanted to pay you to haul them away. Back in the late 1960'S i went to work for a good friend who owned a scrap metal yard. That was 45 years ago and you can't even begin to guess the kind of stuff we got back then.

Good haul. Nola! You will find some of them useful and some you can sell to get $$ for more tools!

Whoa, you got a nice load there. I use a Greenfield tap wrench like that almost every day. (machinist)

you have some hevty looking user wrenches in that pick-up today, good for you.

EvilDr235,  you reminded me of my younger years, like in 1955 I was working in a repair garage
that also had a huge auto salvage.

every time we hauled in another clunker, this other worker and I would drag it out back and check
under the seats, floor mats and trunk for what we considered treasures.

all the money we found would go in a coffee can and we would use it for the soda machine, which
was a 5 cent coke machine, yes 5 cents.  we thought that we were rich.

The screwdriver between the wire gauge and the carpenter's pincers appears to be a Ford tool kit screwdriver.  Does the shank go all the way through the handle and is it 9/32 inch?  Is it 8 5/8 inches +/- long?  Is the ferrule pinned on?  Are there 8 shallow flutes in the handle?   
They are often worn almost off.   I can never remember the handle diameter; it is either 1 1/8 or 1 1/4. (1 1/8 I think)

If all those are yes, then that is probably one.  There are a few other ones that are very close, but do not meet all the specifications.  I find 1 or 2 a year.  I hardly ever get them in that good of condition.  I could get probably 25 out of that one.

turnnut, back in the late  1960s we were still junking out cars and truck from the 1930s and up. Wood stoves, hit & miss engines, windmills, all kinds of machinery and farm related stuff. My friend has been in the wrecking yard / scrap metal business since 1953 and is still going. He likes old stuff and uses old things daily. Unlike a lot of people who put stuff on a shelf or glass case, he uses stuff. He says stuff is made to be used, not stared at. He loves Plomb tools and uses them. He lives at the wrecking yard and the whole place is like a museum and people are dumbfounded walking thru the place. My friend has a 1940 one ton Dodge flatbed he has driven daily since 1956 and a 3/4 ton 1940 Dodge tow truck he has driven daily since 1958. He has a huge collection of 1939 thru 1947 Dodge trucks from 1/2 ton to 5 ton. Some run and some are used for parts. He still gets a lot of old stuff even today.
