Translation-

Remembering the war in Cuba and who gave me this as a relic in the port of Kingston Jamaica the day July 20, 1898 vowing to be the Viscaya after going under in Santiago Cuba ".

Wonder if this is real. A good story, anyway.

Papaw,  I also have thoughts on story.  why ?

(1) he offered no paper work for provenance. I think that is the word I want to use.

(2) I went to his listings, he has two of them listed, they look the same and the price is the same.
      ebay item # 171713495724

As an aside, I googled Cruiser Viscaya (also spelled Vizcaya) and read up on it a little. Very interesting history, back in the Spanish-American War days. Back when this country didn't take no crap from nobody.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.
