h.disston padsaw

found a small padsaw with the patent date "aug 28 1877"either cast iron or steel.
has the original blade inscribed, "h.disston phila "found it in datamp with drawing
and info,could anyone tell me if this is rare please.[sorry still cant take pics]cost me 20 pence.
has all original black paint.

I see several in worthpoint, so probably not highly rare, but they do seem to have decent asking prices in antique shop type places, dunno if they are getting that kind of money tho...

I suspect you wouldn't have any problem getting your 20 pence back tho ; P

 Not terribly rare as I have one. Blade is marked( Disston and Son Phlada) and handle marked (Patented Aug 28,1877)

Doesn't it?!  I've never seen that before, only the usual thumbscrew. 

I like old pad saws.  I've used mine, and they're just cool.  Or "bitchin."

the thumbscrew is on the oposite side to the patent date,as per
patent drawing.after 135 years to still have the original blade is
really something.
